Easy wrap and sew bowl

You will be proud of the beautiful cloth-wrapped basket or bowl that you will make during this class. Would you like to make beautiful gifts for friends and family and get hooked on a new technique that you can easily do in little time? You can cut strips of coordinated fabrics, or even use your scraps from other projects to make a unique and useful basket which you will make in no time, in fact your project will be done and ready to take home. You will have a nice basket for your table, or to give as a gift.

Join Joyce for this class, who will show you how to wrap your pre-cut strips of fabric around clothesline, and sew them into your bowl, and share other projects you can also make after learning this technique, including purses and placemats.

100-foot cotton covered clothesline (will be provided for class and included in fee)
Scissors
Glue Stick
Straight pins
Strips of cut fabric from 5 fat quarters cut approximately ¾ inch wide, or like yardage of material
Sewing machine with zig-zag capability

Book: “It’s a Wrap” Susan Breier- 2006 Directions will be provided, but book is highly suggested for purchase

Class: We will spend the first part of class wrapping the clothesline with your pre-cut strips of fabric. We will then form a coil of this wrapped clothesline and will form and sew a colorful bowl or basket which we will sew using a wide zigzag stitch on our machines. Joyce will bring other projects she has made using this technique, and will discuss ways to expand this technique to make purses, placemats, and other styles of baskets or bowls. She will discuss other ways to decorate these projects.

This is a fun project and you can expand the technique to many other projects that are easy and make wonderful gifts for friends and family. You will get hooked on these projects which do not require precision or perfection, but will WOW those who see them!
