From Photo to Fabric
In this class, students will take and 8” x 10” photograph and transform it into a small quilt. The topics covered in this class include design issues around the photographs, intellectual property rights, translating a photo to another medium, and a review of several construction techniques. Students will then choose the techniques they prefer to use and begin the execution of their quilt.

Supplies Required for Course
• 8” x 10” color print of a photograph you want to make into a quilt. This photo should be your own work, or a photo you have permission to use.
• Tracing paper
• Pencil/pen
• Omni Pigma pen .01 or .005 (black)
• Matte Acetate (instructor supplied)
• Totally Stable
• Manila file folder
• Glue stick
• Paper scissors
• Fabric scissors
• Fabric marking pen or pencil
• Sewing machine in good working order – zigzag capable
• All usual sewing notions, pins, thread, etc.
• Your favorite fusible web
• Invisible thread
• Fabric you wish to use in the photo
• Batting and backing
